The question needs to be asked 'Should Essential Tremor' be totally ignored and all sufferers informed that [a] Nothing can be done No treatment is to be given [3] And for those with this condition to be be firmly informed to get on with their lives and let this disease take it's course. My experiences stem from 1993 when it commenced, thats 18 years ago. Naturally I went to a Doctors but who would ever imagine that he would have no knowledge whatosoever of treating it and suggested in all seriousness it was my age and to be expected. I now wish I had taken this unhelpful but good advice. I didn't and paid the price by spending 17 years looking for [i] a cure [ii] an expert in it [iii] a tablet or medicine which would cure it completely. My search found at least 10 so called experts who suggested 'they knew the answer', could treat me, and my 'worries were over'. All except one appeared very sincere, honest and concerned. This one prescribed an everyday antibiotic and charged me £250.00 for going private. My hopes were very high indeed when leaving his palatial offices, they dropped gradualy as the days stretched into months with no improvement whatsoever. And this was the case with all the experts seen and the advice taken. In all honesty I think patients with ET need to be shown the door, to be told 'nothing can be done; and any improvement in your symptons is marginal, not worth the effort and your better off putting up with it - otherewise it takes over your life and mind and this seeking of aid and help becomes the worst part of having it. To end: No more good advice please and leave me alone that way I'm reasonably happy and feel secure.
Hi, my father in law has a hand tremor. He was diagnosed with Parkinsons 4 years ago. One of the things he has really struggled with is signing his name. We have been in the office products industry for 40 years and have adapted a pen to help in situations where a signature is required. We can produce pens that will stamp a name and address or stamp a signature. If anyone would like to find out more about these pens, please contact me in the first intance at diana@consultivate.co.uk.many thanks.
I have just heard that some people get rid of their ET having gamma knife treatment. Is that true? Can we really trust them?
I think that I have a very mild form of a tremor but don't want to waste anyone's time. Is there a list of symptoms anywhere or can you tell me does tremor usually get worse? Mine is usually worse if I have my heart rate up from running etc. and it takes a while to slow back down again. I would really like to learn more before going to my GP. Is my GP the right person to start with?
Wow , and i was wondering wtf is this disease . Thanks to you guys i'm back to my senses. My tremors increase their intensity with incresing adrenaline or heart rate.
So the worst part is when im excited my hands specially fingers start tremoring.
Ive been diagnosed eith ET now for five years .It was mis diagnosed as overactive thyroid for years but it seems I suffer both. I have had to retire from my teaching job due to all the shaking - sometimes very severe.I find stress and fatigue make it even worse. But when I do rest it seems to improve and a bout in the gym to strengthen arm and neck muscles also does the trick for me.
