Jane & Tonia

In 2002, the NTF was fortunate to be awarded funding by the Medtronic Foundation under the auspices of an unrestricted grant. This grant was specifically for the purpose of enabling the NTF to establish a network of support groups throughout the UK.

Jane and Tonia had been with the NTF in the capacity of volunteers for some time and this grant allowed us to employ them on a part time basis to put into place a framework for support groups and also continue to offer our members advice and support. As many of our members know, both Jane and Tonia suffer with tremor and have first hand experience of this condition. A further grant from the Lottery, has enabled them to continue in their roles.

JANE - Support Group Co-ordinator

Jane's primary role is to set up and co-ordinate, a nationwide network of support groups. This involves identifying group leaders, finding a suitable venue and helping to publicise the group. Jane also continues to offer support and advice on the phone line.

Tonia

TONIA - Administrator

Tonia has moved into an administrative role and works alongside Jane both in the office and out in the field. Tonia is responsible for correspondence and membership.

Fundraiser

The Foundation runs a continuous fundraising programme to help with the development of support groups throughout the country, and to provide finance for research projects.

Applications are regularly made to Trust Funds and industrial corporations for donations to provide revenue for the expenses of running the Foundation.

There is a shopping website - www.buy.at/tremor.org.uk - which offers goods and services from a wide range of national suppliers and results in commission to the Foundation.

Individual gifts of money are accepted under the Inland Revenue Gift Aid Scheme for reclaiming tax paid and each pound donated earns the Foundation £1.28p.

There is now no limit on the amount of donations made through an employers payroll deduction scheme and the Government pays an extra 10% supplement for three years.

A donation of quoted shares will give the donor both capital gains and income tax relief at 40% on the share value. The Charity may then sell shares without capital gains tax charge.
